Japanese name/ 鶏図押絵貼屏風 (Niwatorizu Oshiebari Byoubu)

Itō Jakuchū was a Japanese painter of the mid-Edo period when Japan had closed its doors to the outside world. Many of his paintings concern traditionally Japanese subjects. He particularly excelled in drawing flowers, fish, and birds, especially fowl, which he used to keep at his home in order to observe them closely. Jakuchu was born in Nishiki Kyoto. We made 2 designs of Jakuchu artwork for cerebrating 300 anniversary of the birth of Ito Jakuchu. (Cooperation with Kyoto Hosomi Museum)

All of our Aloha shirts are made with 100% silk, custom woven fabric that has a jacquard pattern of ‘nami’ waves and ‘pagong’ sea turtles woven into it. Over this intricately woven pattern we dye our Pagong patterns from our historic catalog. This creates a doubly rich and deep visual effect.
