The Story of the Heian Baroque Pattern

Rock artist Hideki Kimura, also known as Keyan, produced numerous legendary events in Japan and abroad during the early days of Japanese rock music.

He began his career as an artist at the age of 60 and has since created murals in over 150 locations worldwide. His life immersed in rock music is vividly reflected in his bold, energetic artwork.

Heian Baroque is one of eight works from the series created for Ebutai Rinpa Rock, a picture-stage production held at the end of 2015. The original piece is a large-scale canvas curtain, approximately 9 meters long, made by joining nine sections of canvas about 90 cm each. It was used in various live performances and events.

Pagong has reinterpreted a portion of this artwork through its distinctive Yuzen dyeing technique, resulting in a truly innovative and unprecedented piece. By applying a color scheme different from the original painting, Pagong brings a new level of dynamism and impact—allowing viewers to experience how dramatically the atmosphere can transform through color.
