INTRODUCING- PAGONG'S CHOICE COLLECTION of "KYOTO TREASURES"

-About-【YOSHITAKA TANIGUCHI】
Born in 1979, YOSHITAKA TANIGUCHI is the 3rd generation in a family of potters making Kiyomizu-yaki in Kyoto. He works together with his father, master potter Masanori Taniguchi at their family studio.

Their works have been included in various exhibitions throughout Japan, as well as the prestigious “200 Contemporary Kyoto Artists” exhibit commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Rimpa School, one of the major schools of Japanese art.

The name “Koku” was given to this artwork by the artist Taniguchi-san, meaning “Sculpted”.

Kiyomizu ”yaki” is a pottery specific to the area surrounding Kiyomizu-temple since ancient times. The temple’s rich history is over 1,200 years old, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kiyomizu-yaki has been officially designated as one of the Traditional Crafts of Japan by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
