-About-

This lively, light-hearted pattern was first introduced during the Showa-era (1926-1989), and based on “Kabuki Juhachiban” or “Eighteen Banquets of Kabuki”; a timeless collection of the greatest kabuki of all time.

The design refers to the story of Ichikawa Danjuro Vll, a kabuki actor who specialized in “hero” roles, and he is said to be the most renown kabuki actor of the eighteenth century.

Our pattern at Pagong was inspired by nine of Ichikawa’s most beloved stage characters lavishly dressed in full kabuki stage costume.
